To promote aesthetic ideas, extend aesthetic education channels and improve aesthetic education approaches, Ningbo Huamao Education Foundation has decided to commend those who has made great contribution to aesthetic education and draw more attention and support from all walks of life. Under the tenets of “educating and subliming people with aesthetics so that they would develop their own aesthetic makings and thus be able to share them with others”, the Foundation has set up the “Huamao Meiyu Prize”. Huamao Meiyu Prize is awarded every year, to two Chinese and foreign persons (teams) each time. In odd-numbered years, the prize goes to those artists, men of letters, and great masters who have made great accomplishments. In even-numbered years, frontline educators are awarded. In 2022, the 2nd Huamao Meiyu Prize will be awarded to frontline aesthetic education workers (teams). Each winner (team) will be awarded 500,000 RMB Yuan, one gold medal and a certificate of honor.

Except for special cases, Huamao Meiyu Prize awarding ceremony is held in October annually, while Dongqianhu Education Forum is carried out simultaneously, so that prize winners and domestic & international experts & scholars will be present on the stage to tell their “aesthetic sharing” stories.

Huamao Meiyu (美堉) Prize includes an character “堉(yu)” which has a left part “土(earth)” and a right part “育(education)”. They means that we should make aesthetic education rooted to the earth, we should hold the nature in awe and veneration and be able to appreciate great beauty of everything.

Why “Huamao Meiyu Prize” is set to award a Chinese and a westerner? Our aim is to keep a foothold in the East, and have international dialogues in both Chinese and international styles, to integrate Chinese and western education and esp. aesthetic education, to realize and showcase transnational beauty.
